In this episode of the Speak Up Podcast, we discuss Advance Care Planning in the United States. This episode is hosted by Brianna Hammond, the Project Assistant at Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association and Chad Hammond, the Project Manager of the ACP Project at the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association. They are joined by our guest speaker, William de Michaelis, a funeral director at The Omega Society in Southern California.

The Omega Society is one of the oldest existing cremation and funeral societies in the U.S. today. The Omega Society launched so that individuals could decide for themselves on their own final arrangements — taking the burden of decision-making away from surviving loved ones — as well as providing an economical, yet quality alternative to costly funeral service. The company is a family business started by William’s grandfather in the 1970s and William joined the team in 2013. In this episode, William discusses how funeral directors support Advance Care Planning.

This episode of Speak Up is edited by Aia Raafat, the Communications Officer at Advance Care Planning in Canada.
