Advance Care Planning in Canada (ACP) is pleased to announce an important new partnership with Prostate Cancer Canada to collaborate on a groundbreaking new project: Advance Care Planning: Support for Men with Prostate Cancer, their Partners, Families and Caregivers.
Prostate cancer survivorship is steadily on the rise in Canada, however prostate cancer continues to be the most common (and third deadliest) cancers to affect Canadian men, with more than one in eight diagnosed within their lifetime.
The goal of this partnership is to better integrate advance care planning (ACP) into the sphere of prostate cancer management, and to help prostate cancer patients better prepare for decisions and choices involved in managing their cancer treatment.
Facing prostate cancer is difficult enough, but having to make other decisions about your care and deciding who would speak for you if you couldn’t speak for yourself can be even more challenging. By working together with Prostate Cancer Canada, the Advance Care Planning in Canada Initiative is working to simplifying this process for patients and families, providing tools and information to help them have important conversations and make informed choices about their care.
Organized by Prostate Cancer Canada, True NTH has been made possible by the Movember Canada Foundation, which is part of a global initiative to raise awareness about men’s health issues, including cancer. By combining efforts, the Advance Care Planning: Support for Men with Prostate Cancer, their Partners, Families and Caregivers project will help individuals, families and caregivers better understand their options and aid them in making crucial decisions about their preferences for care.
